When I first launched, I met a beautiful young lady named Rose, in the dressing room of a dark, smokey strip club. My team and I understood we were walking into Satan’s playground. We were approaching these women with God’s love, offering gifts and prayer. These women were in the dressing room, doing their hair and make-up, and changing into their outfits. Many of them took a break from primping to take a look at the gifts and chat with us. 

 

We prayed for Rose the first night we met her. She reached out to us a few days later and we have been building a strong relationship since then. Rose recently gave her life to Christ last year! I want to be honest and say that it’s been a challenging journey for me as I’ve built this friendship with her. I’m not sure if anyone else is like me, but I like to see instant results for my hard work. Instant gratification is a big part of our American culture but being in ministry doesn’t always fulfill that desire. It can be a very drawn out process before change is ever made. A minister may never see the fruit of their labor.

 

In the moment that Rose gave her life to Jesus, I saw that all of the resistance and struggles I’ve faced in my last two years in ministry in Houston were worth it! I know that God will continue to guide Rose as we deepen our friendship and I move forward teaching her about the Word. I know that is where the transformation will happen!
